OPTIONAL TOURS | Bolivia Hop

Peru Hop works with what we consider the best and safest tour operators. These tour operators do not claim to have the cheapest price, but they do have the best service, and that is why we work with them. Please remember that if you book any tour with a different operator, and you have issues about being forgotten about/not feeling so safe etc, we cannot assist you with this.

The tours we recommend and can help you book at each destination are:

Ballestas Islands – Paracas

Brief Description: Peru´s mini version of the Galapago’s, take a large modern speedboat out into the middle of the Pacific Ocean to see Penguins, Sealions and almost 500,000 living in their natural habitat on large rocks in the middle of the ocean. This reserve is protected, meaning you cannot swim with the animals, but you will get very close to them. A unique experience for those who will not make it to the Galapago’s.

Price: 50 soles (around $17usd)
Times: 8am to 10am, or 10am to 12pm – no later tours

Dune Buggy and Sandboarding – Huacachina

Brief Description: Dune Buggy up and Sandboard down the largest dunes in South America. Dune Buggy drivers are “crazy” but safe meaning you will have a rollercoaster-like journey over the dunes. Sandboarding can be done standing up or lying down on your stomach face first (recommended). This is a MUST do in our opinion

Price: 50 soles (around $17usd)
Times: 4pm to 6pm (get sunset behind the dunes over the oasis at end of tour)

Nazca Lines Flight/Plane – Nazca

Brief Description: Take a small plane flight over the world famous Nazca Lines. These lines, some over 1,500 years old, have blown away historians and archeologists for hundreds of years, and even today there is no uniform agreement as to how they were ever created…some even believe it was Aliens!! The huge drawings are spread over almost 80km of desert, so a plane ride is definitely the best way to see these incredible sculptures.

Price: $80 usd

Times: Morning time highly recommended due to winds – email us to assist with scheduling if needed

Colca Canyon tour (not trek) – Arequipa

Brief Description: The colca canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world, and this tour will take you to see all the main parts of the Canyon. The canyon is located in Chivay, about 4 hours from Arequipa, and is also famous for being the home of the Andean Condor Bird, a bird with an incredible wingspan of over 10ft and on this tour you get up close and personal with these majestic birds! 2 day tours allow you to sleep 1 night in the town of Chivay, and 1 day tours allow you to see all the main parts of the canyon and come back to Arequipa in the same day, great for those short on time.

Price: 90 soles (around $30usd) – 2day tour includes 1 night accommodation

Times: 2day / 1night tour begins at 8am, returns 5pm next day…1 day tour begins at 3am and returns the same day at 5pm

Colca Canyon Trek – Arequipa

Brief description: Trek down into the second deepest canyon in the world, descending from 3,500 metres all the way to 1,700 metres, and sleep at an oasis lodge in the middle of the canyon. However, what goes down must go up, so the trek back up out of the canyon can be hard, but push yourself and you will always make it. The trek out of the canyon usually begins at sunrise, leading to breathtaking views as the sunrises from behind the canyon. Of course a stop at the Cruz del Condor, where you will see the world famous Andean Condor birds float over your head, is included in this trek.

Price: 135 soles (around $45 usd) – 2day/1night trek, including accommodation and food (2 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner)
165 soles (around $55 usd) – 3day/2night trek, including accommodation and food (3 breakfast, 2 lunch, 2 dinner)

Times: All treks begin at 3am (hostel pickup included)

Lake Titicaca Tours – Puno

Brief Description: Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world at 3,800 metres (12,500 ft) above sea level! The lake connects Peru and Bolivia and on a sunny day, the views here are spectacular. What is most interesting about the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca (Puno) is that families have built floating villages or islands on the Lake. These families live on the middle of these islands made of reeds that they built over the last 100 years, with the 3 main islands known as Uros, Amantani and Taquile. The islands are a MUST for anyone visiting Peru and actually people on these islands have their own culture and even their own language (not Spanish) so it truly is somewhere not to be missed.

Prices: 30 soles (around $10usd) – 2 hour tour of Uros Islands
60 soles (around $20usd) – full day tour of Uros and Taquile Islands
120 soles (around $40usd) – 2day/1night tour where you sleep with a local family on Amantani Island

Times: Full day and homestays begin early morning, between 7am and 8am, 2 hour tour available morning or afternoon.
