What is Bolivia Hop (brief summary)

Bolivia Hop is a bus/travel company developed by Irish and South American partners to give travelers a safe and easy way to discover the REAL Bolivia and Peru.

It was only after our Irish owners moved to South America did they realize they had missed so many amazing places and so developed Peru Hop/Bolivia Hop so other travelers wouldn’t make the same mistake. It’s why we created the slogan “Don’t be a Typical Tourist”!

How Bolivia Hop Works (brief summary)

Our core concept is hop on hop off. Buy 1 ticket and you can hop on and off at cities and towns all across Bolivia and Peru. No bus terminals, no taxis, no stress!

More importantly, we are able to stop at hidden gems that public buses cannot (as they want to get from A to B as quickly as possible) to give you a truly local and authentic experience.

You are also in full control of your trip. You decide where to go, how long to stay, what hotel or Airbnb to stay at, and when to get back on the next bus… we just assist and advise you.

Want more details on how Bolivia Hop works?

Below is our simple guide to help you understand how our service works in 5 simple steps.

There is a myth that Bolivia Hop is a “touristy” way to travel and that doing it by yourself on local public buses is more “authentic”. But on public buses, you miss out on incredible hidden gems and you do NOT learn about the culture, the people and the history of places you pass by…doesn’t sound so authentic to us!

Bolivia Hop offers a MUCH more complete experience of Bolivia. Yes, we give you the huge safety benefits that comes with traveling with a company owned by Irish guys living in South America. Yes it is a very easy and stress free way to travel. And yes you will travel on a bus of fellow travelers from across the world and not on a bus full of locals going to work. But we also stop at hidden gems along the way allowing you to see the REAL country (things we only discovered living here).

We also have a local travel guide on each bus who will more than likely become great friends with you (see past reviews) and will give you insights into life growing up in Bolivia that you simply won’t get from any guidebook or blogger.

Below is a quick comparison of Bolivia Hop vs Public Buses and why Bolivia Hop is safer, easier, and more fun!

Don't believe us? Find the best local bus company, find their Tripadvisor page, and then read the reviews. Then read Peru Hop reviews. We are far from perfect, but we promise you a much better traveling experience seeing more and paying less!

Book With Confidence

You are able to change your departure dates at no extra cost if you were to change your plans.

Crossing the Peru/Bolivia border can be a hellish ordeal even for seasoned travelers. There are plenty of horror stories on the notorious police scams, stolen bags, made-up fines, and refused entries. The language barrier for many non-Spanish speakers doesn´t help.

Most public buses won’t give you advice regarding which are the necessary forms to fill out, nor which offices you need to enter to get your passport stamped leaving you all on your own in dangerous territory. This is a review you can find on TripAdvisor on one of the public buses page: “They told us to get off at the Bolivian border with no direction on where to go or what to do. Ended up wandering the streets for an hour trying to figure out how to get through immigration”. A simple Google search will show you all the truly unbelievable things that have and keep on happening at the border.

Luckily, you won’t have to worry about any of that while traveling with Bolivia Hop! Our highly professional, bilingual guides take all the stress out of the dreaded border crossing. They will have the necessary paperwork on the bus, helping you fill out the sheets while answering any doubts or questions you have at the moment.
